of New York City, the village of Sleepy Hollow offers historic
attractions, beautiful river views, tree-lined streets, a variety
of diverse businesses.
Sleepy Hollow, known as
North Tarrytown until late 1996, was the setting for Washington
Irving's Legend of Sleepy Hollow. It is here you'll find
the Old Dutch Church and cemetery,
brought to life in literature by Ichabod Crane's legendary
encounter with the Headless Horseman.
Its recreational facilites include the scenic
Hudson River Park, Kingsland
Point, where you can see the historic Tarrytown
Lighthouse.
Walking the Croton
Aqueduct Trailway, hikers will pass the Old Dutch Church
and cemetery, where gravestones date back to the 1600s and
carry the names of some of the area's earliest Dutch settlers.
Another attraction is the Union
Church of Pocantico Hills which boasts stained glass by
artists Marc Chagall and Henri Matisse. This rich history and outdoor activities make Sleepy Hollow a particularly desireable community.
